Tessier Family Foundation – Current Students

The Tessier Family Foundation began providing funds for scholarships in 2014 for students enrolled in the Accounting/Business Management, Heating and Cooling Technology, LPN and Medical Assistant programs. The scholarships will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s accounts the following Fall semester.
First Year Student Accounting Heating and Cooling Technology Licensed Practical Nursing Medical Assistant
Applicant must be currently enrolled as a first year full-time student in Accounting/Business Management, Heating and Cooling Technology, LPN or Medical Assistant programs to be eligible for these scholarships. Applicant must complete the MTC current student online application during the open application period as instructed to be eligible for these scholarships.

Tessier’s Endowed Scholarships – Incoming Students

The Tessier’s Endowment was established in 2007 by the Tessier Family Foundation, Tessier’s, Inc., Mark Buche and Gopal Vyas. The purpose of the endowment is to provide scholarship funds to Heating and Cooling Technology students. These scholarships will be awarded in January each year and the funds will be applied to the recipient’s accounts the following Fall semester.
Heating & Cooling Technology
Applicant must be an accepted full-time student enrolled in the Heating and Cooling Technology program. Applicants must complete the MTI Incoming student online application and provide an online reference if requested between January 1 and June 30 to be eligible for these scholarships.

The Vickers Family Scholarship For Business & Information Technology

The Vickers Family Scholarship for Business & Information Technology was established in 2022. Chad Vickers graduated from the Computer Systems Technology program in 1996 and Chad and Jennifer’s son, Jude Vickers, graduated from the Business Management program in 2021. The Vickers Family attributes much of their life successes to the education they received from Mitchell Tech. This scholarship is for incoming students in either the Business or Information Technology program and is awarded for the Fall semester.

Tony and Betty Sieler Memorial Scholarship

The Tony and Betty Sieler Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the lives, values, and legacy of Tony and Betty Sieler. Throughout their lives, they demonstrated a strong work ethic, a commitment to serving others, and a belief that success is achieved through perseverance, dependability, and a willingness to embrace challenges. This scholarship is awarded to a second-year Precision Agriculture student who exemplifies the qualities that Tony and Betty encouraged in their family and community. Candidates should demonstrate hard work, reliability, and the determination to see projects and responsibilities through to completion. Preference will be given to students who willingly accept challenges, think creatively to solve problems, and use their talents and abilities to help others succeed. Precision Agriculture continues to evolve through innovation, adaptability, and service. This scholarship seeks to recognize students who not only excel in their studies but also embody the character, initiative, and commitment that Tony and Betty believed were essential to making a positive difference in the lives of others. Through this scholarship, their legacy lives on by supporting future leaders in Precision Agriculture who are dedicated, dependable, innovative, and committed to serving their communities.

Van Buskirk Family Foundation Scholarship

The Van Buskirk Family Foundation Scholarship supports students pursuing education in the Heating & Cooling Technology, Architectural Design & Building Construction, and Electrical Construction & Maintenance programs at Mitchell Technical College. This scholarship reflects the Van Buskirk family’s commitment to strengthening the skilled trades workforce in South Dakota and the region. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate a history of community involvement. Preference may be given to students who express a commitment or strong interest in remaining in South Dakota after graduation. By investing in technical education and supporting students dedicated to their communities, the Van Buskirk Family Foundation aims to help develop the next generation of skilled professionals who will contribute to the region’s workforce and economic growth.
Architectural Design & Building Construction Electrical Construction & Maintenance Heating & Cooling Technology
Must be enrolled fulltime in a Mitchell Technical College program with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Must be enrolled in the Architectural Design & Building Construction, Electrical Construction & Maintenance, or Heating & Cooling Technology program. Must have a history of volunteering. Preference will be given to students committed to remaining in South Dakota upon graduation and who are from within 150 miles of Sioux Falls.

Willard “Bill” Krueger Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Willard “Bill” Krueger Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2016 by his family to honor Bill, who was an amazing husband and an outstanding Dad and Grandpa who had a sweet and patient personality. Bill was from Howard, SD, and worked most of his adult life in the building and construction industry. He also had a passion for woodworking and created numerous master pieces for his wife and daughters.

Applicant must be currently attending MTC as a second year, full-time student in Architectural Design and Building Construction program Applicants must complete the MTC online application during the open application period as instructed to be eligible for this scholarship Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above Demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (universal financial aid application) Applicant who demonstrates determination and patience First priority given to applicants from Howard, SD. The scholarships will be awarded in January and applied to Power Line and Electrical Utilities and Substation recipients on their second semester account, and for Automation Controls/SCADA recipients accounts the following Fall semester.
