Norman Knickrehm Memorial Scholarship

Norman Knickrehm was a man who had a passion for woodworking. His creative mind could create something out of nothing. Out of love he he crafted his grandchildren wooden cradles when they were babies to sleep in. Another talent Norman had was refinishing furniture. Norman was a US Postal Service mail carrier here in Mitchell for 32 years. After Norman passed away in April of 2022 his family established this scholarship for a second year student in the Architectural Design and Building Construction program.
Architectural Design and Building Construction
Must be a second year full time student studying an Architectural Design and Building Construction program Preference to a student from the Mitchell surrounding area 2.5 GPA Applicant must complete the MTC Online application to be eligible to receive this scholarship.

Northwestern Energy Scholarships

NorthWestern Energy has been an active supporter of Mitchell Tech through donations of scholarship funds and equipment since 2003. The scholarships will be awarded in January and applied to PL accounts the Spring semester and the following Fall semester for ECM, SCADA and WTT two-year program recipients.
Automation Controls/SCADA Electrical Construction & Maintenance Natural Gas Technology Power Line Construction & Maintenance Wind Turbine Technology
Applicants can be first or second year students currently enrolled full-time in the following programs: Electrical Construction and Maintenance Power Line Construction and Maintenance SCADA Wind Turbine Technology – 2 year Natural Gas Technology Applicant must complete the MTC online application and submit references if required during the open application periods as instructed to be eligible for this scholarship Applicant must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above

Paulson Family Endowed Scholarship

The Paulson Family Endowment was established in 2012. Long-time former Paulson Sheet Metal owners Chuck and Lois Paulson and their son Scott, present owner of Paulson Air, established the endowment to support recruitment scholarships for students enrolled in the Heating and Cooling Technology program. The scholarships will be awarded to students who meet the listed criteria applied to the recipient’s account for the Fall semester. The Incoming student awards will be announced by August 1 and applied to the recipient’s account for the Fall semester and in January for Current students and applied to their accounts the following Fall semester.
Heating & Cooling Technology
Applicant must be an accepted full-time student enrolled at MTC in the Heating and Cooling Technology program Applicant must complete the MTC Incoming online application and provide an online reference between January 1 and June 30 to be eligible for this scholarship. Current students must complete the online application during the Fall application period to be eligible for this scholarship.

Puetz Development Scholarship

Puetz Development established this scholarship for ADBC students in 2022. Puetz Development have been recorded supporters of the Mitchell Technical College’s ADBC program with cash donations, student partnerships, and provided scholarship funding the Mitchell Technical College.

Reyher / Harris Memorial Scholarship

The Reyher/Harris Memorial Scholarship was established in 2019 by Seth and Cheryl Weeman in memory of U.S. Navy Divers James Reyher and Ryan Harris, who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country while conducting military diving operations on February 26, 2013. Teammates to the end, Reyher and Harris personified the values of courage and commitment, always displaying a “can do” attitude that enabled them to accomplish any goal they set out to achieve.
This scholarship will be awarded to any second year student enrolled in a program leading to the receival of an Associate’s Degree as well as any student enrolled in the Licensed Practical Nursing, Power Line, GPS/GIS and Electrical Utilities and Substation programs. Applicant must maintain a 3.0 GPA. Academic performance, financial need and instructor recommendations will also be considered. Students receiving Build Dakota scholarships, involved in a Double Edge or Workforce Recruitment program, or receiving full GI Bill of Rights will not be eligible for this scholarship. Applicant must complete the MTC Online application to be eligible to receive this scholarship.

Rick Kostelecky Endowed Scholarship

The endowed scholarship was established by the family of Rick Kostelecky, a 1982 graduate of the Electrical Construction and Maintenance program. Kostelecky began his career with Muth Electric in Watertown and Rapid City. In 1993, he joined Interstates Electric Engineering, where he traveled nationwide as a project foreman. He rejoined Muth Electric in 2004 and settled in the Black Hills. Rick passed away in August, 2012. The endowment began providing scholarships in the 2013-2014 school year. The scholarships will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the following Fall semester.
Electrical Construction & Maintenance
Applicant must be currently enrolled as a first year full-time student in the Electrical Construction and Maintenance program Applicant must complete the MTC Current student online application during the open application period as instructed to be eligible for the scholarship Applicant must maintain and GPA of 3.0 or above Recipient must be a U.S. citizen Family members will aid in the selection of the recipient

Rod Bowar Memorial Scholarship

Rod owned Kennebec Telephone Company, providers of telephone, cable TV and internet service to Kennebec, Presho and rural Lyman County. He joined the company in 1977 and purchased it in 1998. Rod was passionate about providing the best opportunities possible for his family and community. He served on many different boards and committees, including serving on the Mitchell Technical College Foundation Board. Two of Rod’s children were Mitchell Tech grads, and his businesses employ multiple Mitchell Tech graduates.

Roger Carlson “Tough Old Bird” Endowed Scholarship

The endowment was established in 2013 by the family and friends of longtime Mithell Tech Ag instructor Roger Carlson. Carlson began his career at Mitchell Tech in August, 1990, and was a valued member of the Ag Technology department until May, 2011, when health problems forced his retirement. Carlson passed away on August 27, 2012 from complications related to leukemia. The endowment began providing scholarships in the 2013-14 school year to a qualifying student in the Ag Technology, Architecture Design and Building Construction or Farm Power Technology programs. The scholarship will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the following Fall semester.
