AG Class Of 1974 Scholarship

The Ag Class of 1974 scholarship was established in 2014 by several alumni who wished to support second year Ag Business, Animal Science and Agronomy students in their quest to obtain an education in the program. The scholarship will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account for the second semester of their second year.
Agricultural Business Agronomy Animal Science
Must be a second year full time student studying an agricultural based program Must be enrolled full time Applicant must complete the MTC Online application to be eligible to receive this scholarship.

AG Leadership – SD PAS

This scholarship endowment was created in 2017 with funds received from the SD PAS Organization and private donations from Ag-related donors. This scholarship will be awarded to any student in Ag Business, Agronomy or Animal Science programs that shows exceptional leadership capabilities.

Ag Memorial Endowed Scholarship

During the course of MTC’s history, MTC instructors, students, alumni and family have established scholarship funds in memory of Ag students, alumni or Ag Board members. B.J. Stoeser – was a 1982 graduate of the Ag program and was killed in a car accident in October, 1987. He was remembered as tough, enthusiastic and persistent with excellent leadership skills. Bryan Larson – was a 1981 graduate of the Ag program. Dennis Boehmer – attended the Ag program in 1980-81. He succumbed to cancer between his first and second year of school. Topper Largent -was an Ag Advisory Board member. Largent was killed in a plane crash near Hot Springs, SD.

Applicant must be currently enrolled as a second-year full-time student in the Ag Business, Animal Science or Agronomy programs Applicant must complete the online MTC scholarship application during the open application period as instructed to be eligible for this scholarship

Ashrae – American Society Of Heat., Refrig. & Air-Cond. Engrs. Scholarship

The scholarship award will be awarded in January each year. For second year students funds will be applied to recipient’s Spring semester account. For first year students funds will be applied to the recipient’s account the following Fall semester. The recipient will be selected by the scholarship committee with HCT instructor input.
Heating & Cooling Technology
Must have a GPA greater than 3.0 Must be enrolled full time in Heating and Cooling Technology and pursuing an AAS Applicant must complete the MTC Online Application to be eligible to receive this scholarship

Associated General Contractors (AGC) Endowed Scholarship

Associated General Contractors (ACG) is a South Dakota trade association that represents the interests of the construction industry. The Building Chapter is headquartered in Sioux Falls, SD and the members primarily build commercial buildings. Their scholarship objective is to help a young person enter a construction-related trade. They began offering a scholarship in the 2012-13 school year. The scholarship will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the following Fall semester.
Architectural Design and Building Construction Electrical Construction & Maintenance Heating & Cooling Technology
Applicant must be a current full time student Applicant must be enrolled in Architectural Design & Building Construction, Electrical Construction & Maintenance, or Heating & Cooling Technology Applicant must have a GPA greater than 2.5 Applicant must complete the MTC Online application to be eligible to receive this scholarship.

Bartels Endowed Scholarships

Keith & Glynn Bartels have been active and instrumental members of the Mitchell Technical Institute Foundation and have a passion for education and Mitchell Technical College. They have chosen to establish a scholarship endowment with the Mitchell Technical College Foundation which provides $500 scholarships each year. The scholarships will be awarded to any Power Line recipients in January each year and applied to recipient’s account in the Spring semester. All other scholarships will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s accounts the following Fall semester.

Beef Bucks

Beef Bucks began offering scholarships to Mitchell Technical College students in 2017. These scholarships are awarded first year, full-time students enrolled in an agricultural-based program who maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Black Hills Energy Scholarship

Black Hills Energy established this scholarship for Power Line Construction and Maintenance students in 2019. Black Hills Energy and the Black Hills Corporation have been recorded supporters of the Mitchell Technical College’s Energy programs with cash donations, various pieces of equipment and supplies for students, and provided scholarship funding the Mitchell Technical College Alumni Association Golf Tournament since 2012.
Power Line Construction & Maintenance
The applicant must complete the MTC Online Scholarship application to be eligible for this scholarship. Applicant must provide an online reference if requested. The applicant must be a fulltime student enrolled in the Power Line Construction and Maintenance program. The applicant must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. First preference will go to applicants from the Black Hills Energy electric service territory area: Pennington, Meade, Lawrence, Custer, Butte and Fall River counties or Weston County Wyoming. Second preference is to students in Black Hills Energy other operating states of NE, WY, IA, KS, AR, CO and MT.

Blair Bortnem Memorial MTC Staff Scholarship

Blair Bortnem graduated from Mitchell Tech’s Computer Systems Technology program in 1999. After working for Martin Group for a number of years Blair then became the Systems Administrator at Mitchell Tech, a position he held until his passing in February of 2018. Each year the faculty and staff of Mitchell Tech contribute to a Mitchell Tech Staff Scholarship fund. The Blair Bortnem Memorial Mitchell Tech Staff Scholarships is disbursed from this fund each year in memory of Blair’s dedication and service to IT and Mitchell Tech.
Applicant must be a first year student enrolled full time in the Radiologic Technology program. Applicant must complete the MTC Online application to be eligible to receive this scholarship.
