Central Plains Dairy Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2026 through funds provided by the Central Plains Dairy Foundation. It is awarded to students enrolled in their second year of Mitchell Tech’s Animal Science program, with preference given to those who have an interest in pursuing a career in the dairy industry.
Must be a 2nd year student Must be enrolled fulltime in Animal Science program Must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher Must complete the online MTC scholarship application

CHS – Farmers Alliance

Farmers Alliance, a subsidiary of CHS Inc, is a full service agricultural cooperative located in Southeastern South Dakota. Their core businesses include agronomy, energy, feed and grain. Primary locations include Alexandria, Bridgewater, Chamberlain, Corsica, Ethan, Huron, Mitchell, Parkston, Storla, and White Lake. They also have offices in Emery and Wessington Springs.

Applicant must be a second-year Ag Business, Animal Science and Agronomy student Applicant must complete the MTC Online application to be eligible to receive this scholarship.

CHS Scholars

The CHS Scholarship program provides financial assistance to undergraduate students at select universities who are pursuing agriculture related degrees.
Agricultural Business Agronomy Animal Science Precision Ag Technology
Applicant must be a first year full time student at MTC studying an agricultural based program. Applicant must complete the MTC Online application to be eligible to receive this scholarship.

Communications Endowed Scholarships

The Communications fully-funded endowment was created in December, 2003. The scholarships will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s accounts the following Fall semester.
Wi-Fi & Broadband Technologies
Applicant must be currently enrolled full time as a first year student in the Wi-fi & Broadband Technologies program at MTC Applicant must complete the MTC online application during the open application period as instructed to be eligible for this scholarship Applicant must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (universal financial aid application form) Selection committee may solicit instructor recommendations

Dakotas Chapter NECA Endowed Scholarship

The Dakotas Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), based in Fargo, ND, was founded in 1949 and is one of 117 NECA chapters nationwide. It promotes and advances the interests of 40 electrical contractors in the Dakotas and western Minnesota. NECA contractor electricians are all members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. This endowment was created in 2014. The scholarships will be awarded in January each year and applied to the second year student recipient accounts for their second semester. The first year student awards will be applied the following Fall semester.
Electrical Construction & Maintenance
Applicant must be currently enrolled as a first or second year, full-time student in the Electrical Construction & Maintenance program at MTC. Applicant must complete the MTC online application during the open application period as instructed to be eligible for the scholarships. Applicant must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA.

Dale Letcher Memorial Scholarship

In 1968 Dale Letcher became employed at Mitchell Tech where he was the department head and instructor of the Architectural Design and Building Construction program. Dale loved his students and made a profound effect on many throughout the years. He retired from teaching in 1997. This scholarship will be awarded to an accepted Incoming students who meets the listed criteria and applied to their account for the following Fall semester.
Architectural Design and Building Construction
Applicant must be a first year student enrolled full time in the Architectural Design and Building Construction program. Applicant must complete the MTC Online application to be eligible to receive this scholarship.

David (Dave) L Kasten-Class Of 2011 Memorial Scholarship

David (Dave) Kasten was a graduate of the Diesel Power program-Class of 2011. This scholarship was established in his memory by his family.

David Grode Memorial Scholarship

David Grode was the Superintendent of Schools at Plankinton, SD. He was killed in the propane explosion that destroyed the school on November 17, 2000. David was an avid woodworker, therefore his family decided to establish this memorial scholarship for Natural Gas Technologies or Architectural Design and Building Construction students. The scholarship will be awarded to an accepted Incoming student who meets the listed criteria and applied to their account for the Fall semester.

Dennis Knouse Memorial Scholarship

The fund was established in 2013 by family, friends and co-workers of Dennis Knouse. Knouse was a 1979 Electrical Construction and Maintenance graduate from Huron, SD who died in a motorcycle accident in 2010. Funds for the scholarships are provided by a Poker Run held each summer. The scholarship will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the following Fall semester.
Electrical Construction & Maintenance Electrical Utilities & Substation Technology Power Line Construction & Maintenance
Applicant must be currently enrolled as a first year full-time student in the Electrical Construction & Maintenance, Power Line or Electrical Utilities & Substation Technology at MTC Applicant must complete the MTC current student online application during the open application period as instructed to be eligible for this scholarship The scholarship will be awarded in January to Power Line or EUST recipients and applied to their account for the second semester or to an ECM recipient and applied to their account the following Fall semester. Applicant must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above Financial need and indication of strong desire to make a career in the field required

Dennis Merchant Endowed Scholarship

The endowment was established in 2012 by the family of former MTC Power Line instructor, Dennis Merchant. Merchant spent his entire working career in the power line industry and taught the Power Line Technology program at Mitchell Tech from 1974 to 1988. He and his wife Dorothy then made their business, Merchant Job Training and Safety Program, their priority. Merchant passed away in February, 2012. His family continues to run this business, now located in Brookings, SD. The scholarship will be announced in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account the Spring semester.

East River Electric Cooperative Scholarship

East River Electric Cooperative has been providing scholarship funds to Mitchell Tech since 2003. This scholarship is provided annually for a student in the Power Line Construction and Maintenance program. The scholarship will be awarded in January each year and applied to the recipient’s account for the Spring semester.

Applicant must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at MTI in the Power Line Construction and Maintenance program Applicant must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher Applicant must complete the MTC online application during the open application period as instructed to be eligible for this scholarship
